MYX VJ Search 2011 winners: Mike Advincula, K-la Rivera & Joyce Pring

MYX VJ Search 2011 has just concluded with the announcement of winners last night, July 27, 2011, at The Block Atrium in SM North EDSA.

Three winners have been named on this year's MYX VJ Search and they are: Joyce Pring, K-la Rivera and Mike Advincula.

Joyce Pring is a Fine Arts student from UP Diliman while K-la Rivera is most familiar to us as the 4th placer on Sharon's Search for the Next Female Pop Superstar.

MYX VJ Search 2011 male winner Mike Advincula meanwhile is an Industrial Engineering graduate from the De La Salle University.

He's 23 yeards, stands 6'1" and was the team captain of the DLSU Green Tankers. (Certified Hottie!!!)

Mike is also friends with actor Enchong Dee, his teammate in DLSU swim team. (Enchong even campaigned for Mike thru his K-Text)

Sarah Geronimo's 'Fallin' falls to #5 on MYX Hit Chart

There's a new #1 on the latest MYX Hit Chart (for the period April 3 to 9, 2011).

Last week's top position was held by Sarah Geronimo's version of "Fallin'", theme song of the certified box-office hit "Catch Me I'm In Love", but for this week, it dropped not on 2nd or 3rd spots, but on the 5th slot. What happened?

New #1 now is last week's #5, "Tambay" by the SpongeCola.

Will SpongeCola maintain its position next week or will Sarah return on top?

Kyla's "Don't Me Tie Down" is also going up in the countdown, from #6 in the previous week to #2 this week.

Catch Me I'm In Love's theme song "Fallin" which is sang by the movie's lead star herself Sarah Geronimo has topped the latest MYX Hit Chart, dislodging Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" which was on top for 2 weeks.

It's the 3rd week of "Falling" on MYX Hit Chart and the song is one of the only 7 OPM hits in the said countdown for this week.

"Fallin" is now the 2nd single of Sarah Geronimo to have reached #1 on MYX Hit Chart this 2011. The first one was "Sino Nga Ba Siya?" which was on top for 2 weeks last January.

And definitely, "Fallin" is just one of the many songs by Sarah Geronimo which reached the #1 spot on MYX Hit Chart. In the previous years, her #1 songs in the said countdown included "Dahil Minahal Mo Ako", "You Changed My Life in a Moment", "A Very Special Love", "Ikaw" and "I Still Believe In Loving You".


Meanwhile, the music video of 'Fallin' performed by Sarah Geronimo for "Catch Me I'm In Love" is also getting lots of views on Youtube.

The video which was posted by ABS-CBN-connected "mychosdotcom" garnered already 220k hits as of March 28, 11:30 PM.

MYX Hit Chart for January 30, 2011: Sarah Geronimo's "Sino Nga Ba S'ya" is #1 for the 2nd week

Sarah Geronimo's latest single "Sino Nga Ba S'ya?" is on top of this week's MYX Hit Chart.

Now on its 5th week in the countdown, the song lands on 1st slot for the 2nd consecutive week.

Just behind is Katy Perry's "Fireworks" followed by "Hoot" by the KPop group Girls' Generation.

There are two new entries this week which are already rank so high on their 1st week and these are Gloc9's "Walang Natira" and Taylor Swift's "Back To December" in 4th and 5th slots respectively.

Will any of them grab the top spot from Sarah Geronimo next week? It all depends on Sarah's fans if they will allow it.

Sam Milby, Christian Bautista added to MYX Mo 2010 Performers Line-Up

Rockoustic heart-throb Sam Milby and Asia's Pop Idol Christian Bautista have been added to the list of performers in the Myx Mo 2010 this November 18 at SM MOA Concert Grounds.

They're actually just 2 of more than 20 OPM artists who have been added to the previously announced line-up of Myx Mo 2010 performers.

Newly-announced performers include Jed Madela, Nina, Kyla, Richard Poon, Markki Stroem, Young JV, 6CycleMind, Kamikazee, The Company, Sugarfree, The Dawn, Itchyworms, Moymoy Palaboy, Paraluman, Tanya Markova, Pedicab, Mayonnaise, Urbandub, Slapshock, General Luna, Krissy & Ericka and Parokya Ni Edgar.

They now join previously announced performers such as SpongeCola, Yeng Constantino, Kitchie Nadal, Barbie Almalbis, Nyoy Volante, Kjwan, Callalily, Imago and Mr. Ogie Alcasid.

The total number of performers is now 32 and as the event draws near, Myx might announce more additions to the line-up. (I hope they include Jovit Baldivino.)

With that, MYX Mo 2010 will indeed be the biggest music event in the Philippines this year.

Myx Mo is an annual event of MYX, but this year, it's going to be extra special 'coz it will also be the 10th year anniversary celebration of the said music channel.

Bruno Mars' "Just The Way You Are" falls to #2 on MYX Hit Chart

David Archuleta has reclaimed the top spot on the latest Myx Hit Chart.

His song "Something 'Bout Love" dropped to #2 last week but for this week, it's back on top causing "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars to fall on the runner-up position.

All I thought Justin Bieber's "Love Me" was a potential #1 song, but I was wrong. From #3 last week, it fell two notches down this week, which isn't a good sign of a potential chart-ruler.

Only 6 of the Top 20 songs on MYX Hit Chart for the period October 17 to 22, 2010 are from local artists which isn't something to be happy about.

In just 3 weeks, the song "Something 'Bout Love" by David Archuleta has landed on top of the latest MYX Hit Chart dislodging Taylor Swift's "Mine" which was #1 for 2 weeks.

But Justin Bieber is most likely to steal the #1 spot as his new song "Love Me" makes a debut on the chart this week, landing at a high #7.

Marco Mañalac frontal scene in "Equus"

There's a new Marco who just like indie actor Marco Morales, is fearless to do frontal scenes, not in indie films though, but on stage. And that's actually more daring!

21-year-old Gabriel Marco Manalac will play as Alan Stung Strung in "Equus" to be staged by Repertory Philippines.

During the pictorial, Marco already posed with no clothes and pants on. And on the play which starts 2nd week of July, Marco will also be required to go fully unwrapped, showing all what he got.

Just like Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe who portrayed the same role of Alan Strung in a version of Equus in London. Radcliffe also bared all there.

According to a feature by Ricky Lo, Marco is a Cum Laude graduate from Ateneo de Manila University and that's even more admirable. For sure, he has thought of auditioning for the role many times and was able to anticipate that it's going to be a big break for him.

"Equus" will be staged at OnStage Greenbelt 1 in Makati City, 8:00 P.M, on these dates: July 10, 16, 17, 23 & 24. For tickets, please call (02)887-0710.

MYX VJ Search 2010 Finalists

Robin Nievera, the eldest son of Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez, is among the 12 finalists for the MYX VJ Search 2010.

Robin has bigtime parents, a music royalty, but on MYX VJ Search, having celebrity parents is actually not an edge over other finalists.
Remember last year, Andi Eigenmann, now a primetime star via "Agua
Bendita", also joined the search but she lost.

Aside from Robin, another familiar name to me is Andrew "Andy" Smith, who won Mossimo Bikini Summit '07.

Andy also had a brief appearance on ABS-CBN fantaserye "Dyosa" and a familiar face on TV commercials like Colgate, Skin White and Lewis &
Pearl with Maja Salvador. Should I also mention that he's the boyfriend of Jacq Yu, an ex-Star Magic and went daring with Rafael
Rosell in "Fling"?

Super Junior's "Bonamana" enters MYX Hit Chart

Korean pop group Super Junior continues to win the votes of MYX viewers with one single to another. Their latest single "Bonamana" becomes another Super Junior hit in the Philippines as it makes a splash debut on MYX Hit Chart this week.

For its first week in the countdown of both OPB and international singles, "Bonamana" debuts at #8, which is quite high and not surprising if it will land on the top spot on the coming weeks.

But that's if Charice and Bieber fans would allow it. The two teen sensations have been dominating the MYX Hit Chart for many weeks now.

Charice's "Pyramid" is now on its 4th week as #1 song while "Eenie Meenie", a Justin Bieber's collaboration with Sean Kingston, comes behind at #2, which is up 3 notches from last week. In 3rd slot is another Bieber song entitled "Never Let You Go", which made a big jump from #12 last week.

Previous week's #2 was also a Bieber song. "Baby", which was #1 in the countdown for 7 week, dropped to #2 4 weeks ago to give way for "Pyramid". It's now going down and currently on #10 on its 14th week. That's because Bieber fans are now voting for "Eenie Meenie" or "Never Let You Go" and hoping either of the two will also end up on the first spot.

Charice has grabbed the top spot from Justin Bieber on MYX International Top 20 for this week.

From #3 last week, Charice's "Pyramid" jumps up to #1 and making it her first time to top the said chart.


Justin Bieber's "Baby" drops to #2 on its 11th week in the countdown. It stayed on #1 position for 7 weeks.

Justin Bieber continues to win MYX followers with another song of his
being crowned again as the #1 song/music video on MYX countdown,

For the 3rd consecutive week, the song "Baby" by Justin Bieber feat.
Ludacris is still the #1 most requested song on MYX Hit Chart for this
week (March 28-April 03) but it's facing a possible takeover from Lady

Young JV wins as MYX's Favorite New Artist

The 5th MYX Music Awards held last night, March 1, 2010, at the Music Museum didn't turn out to be surprising at all as Sarah Geronimo ruled again for the third straight year.

With 4 trophies, Sarah Geronimo was the biggest winner during the event. She won as Favorite Artist, Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Remake and Favorite Media Soundtrack.

It's now Sarah's 3rd consecutive year to win the Favorite Artist and Favorite Female Artist awards and 2nd consecutive to bag the Favorite Remake award.

Also scoring big was Rico Blanco who won for himself Favorite Male Artist and Favorite MYX Live Performance while Kyla was honored with Favorite Mellow Video and Favorite Song.

Gloc9 also received two trophies: Favorite Music Video and Favorite Urban Video.

In MYX Music Awards history, Rico Blanco is only the second artist to win as Favorite Male Artist. The first one was Erik Santos, who annually took home the awards from 2006 to 2009.

Taking home the Favorite Group award for the 3rd non-consecutive time was SpongeCola.

Dennis Trillo girls Cristine Reyes and Heart Evangelista were both nominated in the Favorite Guest Appearance in a Music Video category. Heart won the award.

The late Francis M's collaboration with Ely Buendia entitled "Higante" won for the Master Rapper a posthumous award as the song was announced as Favorite Collaboration.

MYX International Top 20 for February 27, 2010

Two K-Pop singles have switched places on MYX International Top 20 Countdown for the week-ending February 27, 2010.

Last week's #1 Sorry Sorry - Answer by the Super Junior has moved down a notch and takes over the slot of Oh! by the Girls' Generation, which is now the #1 song in the MIT 20 chart.

The latest Girls' Generation single is proving so strong as it hit the top spot in just three weeks.

But Justin Bieber and Ludacris' Baby is posing a big threat to the K-Pop hits as it makes a big debut at #6 and might grab the top spot anytime soon.

Taylot Swift's 'Love Story' claims #1 spot on MYX Yearend Chart

2009 is indeed a breakthrough year for a lot of artists in the Philippines' MYX Hit Chart, a countdown for both OPM and foreign songs.

Most of the artists who made it in the year-end Top 20 chart were newbies preventing others, most especially the local artists, to hit top spots.

On top of them all is two-time Entertainer of the Year (2009) awardee Taylor Swift who has two songs in the year-end countdown: "Love Story" at #1 spot and "You Belong With Me" at #5. After all the many blessings of Swift this 2009, this is another good thing for her to end the year.

Another breakthrough star Justin Bieber follows Taylor at #2 with his debut single "One Time" while three Korean pop groups amazingly secured their own respective spots in the countdown.

David Cook won the American Idol last year, but it's only in 2009 that he made a great debut on MYX countdown.

Among the local artists, Hale and SpongeCola still remain as the most favored groups on MYX. For the 5th consecutive year, the two groups have their own entries in the MYX Top 20 YearEnd Chart.

While Sarah Geronimo, who topped the Pinoy MYX Yearend chart with the song "You Changed My Life", is the only OPM artist this year to make it to the Top 10 of MYX Hit Chart Yearend.

It is already her 4th consecutive time in the yearend countdown. Last year, she was on top of it with the single "A Very Special Love".
