Riza Santos won as Miss World Canada 2011 and will represent Canada in the Miss World 2011 happening on November 8 in London.
The crowning of 23-year-old half-Filipina Riza Santos as Miss World Canada 2011 was held Thursday, May 19, at the River Rock Show Casino Show Theatre in Richmond, British Columbia with Riza Santos winning over 21 other Canadian candidates.
Riza succeeded Denise Garrido who in Miss World 2010 was among the Top 25 Semi-Finalists.
In 2006, Riza already competed as Miss Canada in the Miss Earth pageant which was held here in the Philippines.
She won as Miss Photogenic but failed to enter the semis. However, it paved the way for her to become a famous showbiz personality in the Philippines.
Riza joined Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2 and finished as 2nd Big Placer.
On her profile at MissWorldCanada.org, stated there that Riza was the lead actress of a Philippine blockbuster movie. They're referring to the movie "Dobol Trobol: Let's Get Redi to Rambol" where Riza played leading lady to Vic Sotto.
Riza is currently an Engineering student at the University of Calgary's Schulich School of Engineering in Alberta, Canada.

Ruffa Gutierrez poses in sexy swimsuit for her new Belo Billboard. Ruffa's new Belo billboard can now be seen along EDSA and I'm really really shocked. She has never been that super sexy and hot
It's a lot lot sexier when she competed in Miss World 1993, where she was the 2nd Runner Up.
If Ruffa already had that curves during the Miss World pageant, she could have won the title.
The actress / TV host, who's already a mother of 2, is endorsing Belo Medical Group's body countouring procedure called "BodyTite", which was previously endorsed by Jinkee Pacquiao.
I'm pretty sure lots of women out there will try that out too and achieve such Belo-bod of Ms. Ruffa Gutierrez.
And that is if you can afford its cost. BodyTite procedure has a minimum price of P 56,000 for the procedure + P5,600 for the anesthesia.
Check out Ruffa Gutierrez's sexy pictures for Belo "BodyTite" Billboard:

Ramon Credo, Sally Ordinario-Villanueva and Elizabeth Batain were the three Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) who were executed thru lethal injection in China yesterday, March 30, 2011. The execution thru lethal injection came 3 years after the three were arrested in 2008 for drug trafficking and 2 years after they were convicted and sentenced to death.
Credo and Ordinario, both 42, were executed in China's southeastern city Xiamen while Batain was executed in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province at the Southern part of China and north of Hong Kong.
As of latest update, Ramon Credo's ashes from China have already arrived in the country and were brought to his home in Cavite. Here's a video report from GMA News:
The whole Philippines is mourning for the death of Credo, Villanueva and Batain.
I actually can't take watching the heartbreaking news reports on TV last night, because I can really feel the pain and grief of the bereaved families.
Some celebs have also expressed their sadness on Twitter over what happened and ask everyone to pray for their souls:
Angel Locsin (@143redangel): Let's pray for the souls of the 3 Pinoys executed in China
Camille Prats (@CamillePrats): Let us pause for a while and pray for the souls of the filipinos who were executed in China. May this serve as a lesson to all of us.
Kiray Celis (@kiraycelis): To the three Filipinos who were executed in china, RIP! at hindi lang isa! tatlo pa! wala tayong magagawa. ganun batas sakanila. haay! ☹ ☹ ☹
Miss World Organization Chairman and CEO Julia Morley was here in Manila, Philippines last Tuesday, January 25, 2011.
Morley was here to officially award the local franchise of Miss World pageant to beauty and wellness guru Cory Quirino, who will then head the national search for the Philippine representative to the Miss World pageant.
The awarding of franchise was held at Shangri-la Makati and also with Morley were Miss World 2010 Alexandria Mills from the USA and 1st Runner Up Emma Wareus from Botswana.
The Miss World Philippines 2011 pageant will be held this August 23 and the winner will represent the country in the Miss World 2011 pageant happening last quarter of this year.
There are speculations that Philippines might host the Miss World 2011 pageant, but there was no mention about it during the event last Tuesday.
With Miss World having new franchise holder in the Philippines and also Morley's visit to the country, let's hope that Philippines will perform better in Miss World pageant and finally snatch the elusive title.
Under previous franchise holder, the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc, the country hasn't landed in the semis of Miss World pageant for 5 straight years starting in 2006.
A night has passed already since the Miss World 2010 Finals happened in Sanya, China last Saturday, but still a major, major controversy is still haunting the 60th edition of the pageant. The Top 3 results were actually generally favorable for the pageant fans as Misses USA, Botswana and Venezuela were among the top favorites for the crown.
Miss Norway Mariann Birkedal meanwhile, who was the #1 favorite and the #1 bet by the bookies, ended up only in the Top 7 quarter-finalists.
That's actually not shocking at all 'coz in a pageant anything could happen. And also, it's not the worst thing that happened in Miss World where the #1 odds-on favorite failed to win the crown or atleast secure a runner-up placement. Remember Miss Philippines Carlene Aguilar in 2005? She only entered the Top 15 semis but failed to advance farther.
Miss Norway and Miss China
But in Miss Norway's case, some pageant followers could not believe that she only finished in the Top 7 while the hometown candidate Miss China Tang Xiao, who's not even a big favorite, placed higher than her, finishing in the Top 5. So, are we talking about the host candidate being favored to win? Or is it because of the so-called "politics in pageant"?
A brand new article at the Daily Mail Online digs deeper on this. Entitled "Miss World contest turns ugly: China charged with blocking favourite Miss Norway following diplomatic row", the article states that the Miss World 2010 results might have been influenced the current diplomatic feud between China and Norway.
According to speculations, the judges composed of former Miss World titleholders allegedly were pressured not to favor Norway. China is said to be furious after the Oslo-based Nobel Peace Prize committee awarded the coveted prize to the jailed Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo earlier this month, the article states.
People from Norway allegedly are starting to believe that their candidates have been cheated and robbed of the chance to win what could have been their first Miss World title.
Ex-Miss Norway Kathrine Sorland, who finished 3rd Runner Up in Miss World 2002, told Daily Mail Online: "I was sure she would win. They must have mixed politics and business. Without jumping to conclusions I would stress that Miss World competitions have always been political. And the relations between China and Norway are very strained at the moment."
The Miss World Organization hasn't reacted yet on these allegations.

Miss Botswana Emma Wareus remains on top of our list of favorites (our 4th list already) after showing a consistent performance in the fast-track events. She placed in the Top 20 of 3 fast-track competitions: Beach Beauty, Top Model and Sports. But she now faces major threats from 3 candidates who placed in the fast-track finals. All wearing red bikini, the Top 40 Beach Beauty semi-finalists finally competed today, 3 days after it was postponed due to heavy rain. It was held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Sanya, China, trimming the Top 40 down to Top 20. And crowned Miss World 2010 Beach Beauty is Miss Puerto Rico Yara Liz Lasanta Santiago.
Miss Puerto Rico, who's also one of the favorites, now earns an automatic slot as one of the Official Top 15 semi-finalists of the pageant.
Though it's kinda disappointing not seeing Misses St. Lucia and Russia in the Top 20, Miss Puerto Rico as Beach Beauty winner is actually a great choice by the judges.

One important title in the Miss World 2010 pageant is the "Beauty with a Purpose" title which is actually one of the so-called "fast-track" competitions in the pageant. The candidate who is named Beauty with a Purpose will automatically enter the Top 15 semi-finals.
One of the candidates hoping to get that title is Miss Philippines Czarina Gatbonton. Watch her video as her entry and judge if she has a strong chance of being named "Beauty with a Purpose":

From #8 on the previous list, Miss St. Lucia Aiasha Tierra Rebecca Gustave is now ranked 3rd on Mykiru's 3rd list of favorites for Miss World 2010. Is she the next on top?
The 18-year-old student who is of British-Guyanese mixture is among those candidates who have sustained their momentum ever since they land on China 2 weeks ago.
Aiasha's chance of winning the first Miss World title for her country is also getting stronger especially after she was chosen as one of the 10 speakers in the Shanghai Forum and after being included in the Top 40 Beach Beauty semi-finalists.
Expect Miss St. Lucia to perform so well in the Beach Beauty finals and also in the Top Model and Talent Fast-Track events.
