Nazril Irham (Ariel Peter Pan) gets 3.5 years jail term for video scandals with gf Luna Maya and ex-gf Cut Tari

Nazril Irham aka Nazril Ariel, vocalist of the Indonesian rock band Peter Pan, has been sentenced to 3.5 years or 42 months in jail for the scandal videos which rocked Indonesia in June 2010.

Nazril Irham was found guilty of distributing p-rnographic materials, referring to the scandal video starring Ariel and his girlfriend / TV presenter Luna Maya as well as another video of him and ex-gf Cut Tari.

The sentence was given today, January 31, 2011, and according to a report from The Jakarta Globe, Ariel Peterpan has also been fined Rp250 million or $28,000 (P1.2M).

This latest development from the Ariel Peterpan-Luna Maya-Cut Tari video scandal came 7 months after Ariel surrendered to the Indonesian police in June 22 days after his videos circulated on the internet.

The Nazril Ariel Peterpan video scandal was a big national controversy in Indonesia and even made headlines around the world, including here in the Philippines.

We had quite similar case here when scandalous videos of model-doctor Hayden Kho Jr with a number of women including sexy actress Katrina Halili also leaked online in May 2009 with the latter filing a case against the former for allegedly taking the video without her consent.

Unlike Ariel Peterpan, Kho was absolved from the case just last December 2010.

Ariel Peterpan, video scandal star turned inmate | How is he doing in jail?

Nazriel Ariel of Peterpan band is now detained by the Indonesian police in connection with the scandal videos which allegedly featured him plus his past and present gfs Cut Tari and Luna Maya.

But even if Ariel is in jail, his star status still remains as inmates reportedly were starstruck and more than glad to have their music idol with them.

A photo published on Jakarta Globe shows how Ariel is doing in prison. Take a look:

Ariel Peterpan definitely is being well-received by the inmates since his detainment on Tuesday.

And it was indeed a quick move for the Indonesian authority to detain Ariel. According to them, they are charging Ariel for making the video and not for distributing the video.

That's despite the fact that Ariel never admitted he's the guy in the video scandals.

Luna Maya and Cut Tari meanwhile have been spared by the police from being charged because they consider them as witnesses.

From there, I've realized that our very own Hayden Kho Jr is still lucky he's not in Indonesia, or else he might also get imprisoned in barely a month after the scandal leak.

We can't blame Indonesian authority to take the case seriously because the scandal has brought negative image to the country. In a recent article from Time Magazine, it branded Indonesia as a nation with obsession to video scandals and p0rn.

CNN to interview Luna Maya about the alleged scandal tape

Indonesian model-actress and TV host Luna Maya will be interviewed by
CNN regarding the scandal tape which allegedly stars Luna and her singer/musician boyfriend Nazril Ilham aka Ariel.

Last Monday, the Indonesian scandal tape caught CNN's attention and
the premiere news network had a written report on its site entitled
"Alleged Celebrity S3x Tape Shocks Modest Indonesia". And now, they want an interview with Luna Maya, probably hoping she will confirm she's the girl in the video.

But also last Monday, Luna Maya and Ariel Peterpan were already interviewed by AsiaOne and they still denied the videos, claiming they are victims of defamation. They also appealed to the public not to jump in any
conclusion.

So, I'm wondering what's Luna has to say in her interview with CNN. That's big exposure and she might become worldwide famous for that.

Why didn't CNN interview our very own Katrina Halili before? She was
also in the same situation last year.

Luna Maya actually is not just an ordinary celebrity in Indonesia. She's
UN's World Food Programme National Ambassadress Against Hunger for Indonesia. So maybe, that's why CNN is interested to interview her.

The alleged Asian video scandals featuring Indonesian celebrity couple
Nazril Irham (Nazriel Ilham) aka Ariel of Peterpan and Luna Maya plus Cut Tari is at its peak today, June 14, that the issue has already reached every
continent in the world.

From Asia to Oceania, America to Europe, the alleged Nazril Irham video scandal collection is being reported in different news sites from every continent.

CNN, New York Times, CBS News, Boston Herald, ABC News, The Australian, Fox News, El Mundo in Spain and Le Matin in Switzerland, to name a few, have featured the said Asian scandal in their respective sites just today, creating much stir worldwide to what's supposed to be a local issue only in Indonesia.

Asian news sites have already feasted on the scandal days ahead. In the Philippines for example, ABS-CBN News and Inquirer also reported about
it on the web 4 days ago.

It's now over a week since the Nazril Irham video scandals broke out, but with the worldwide attention it gets now, the issue might last for a month or more.

The controversy is now causing a national alarm in Indonesia, that the
police reportedly raided schools and universities today, to check and confiscate the students' personal cellphones / mobile phones
containing the scandalous videos.
