One hundred twelve (112) candidates are competing for the Miss World 2009 title.
They have already arrived in London over the weekend and graced the 16th World Travel Awards 2009 held yesterday.
On the coming days, they will fly to Johannesburg in South Africa where the coronation night (December 12) will be held.
Eight of the candidates are familiar faces in the pageantry as they have just competed in the Miss Universe 2009 pageant held in the Bahamas last August. They are Misses Belgium, France, Lebanon (photo above), Mauritius, Namibia, Netherlands, South Africa and Uruguay.
Miss South Africa Tatum Keshwar and Miss France Chloé Mortaud both made it to the Top 10 finalists of Miss Universe 2009 while Miss Belgium Zeynep Sever was one of the Top 15 semi-finalists.
Miss Netherlands Avalon-Chanel Weyzig was also one of the favorites but failed to make the cut.
Another interesting woman is participating in Miss World 2009.
She is Miss England Katrina Hodge who was just a last-minute replacement to Rachel Christie who voluntarily resigned after she got involved in a brawling incident in a night club.
The new Miss England is a soldier (Lance Corporal) and is set to be sent to Afghanistan after her Miss World 2009 stint.
