After almost one year of being crowned Miss Russia, 21-year old Ksenia Sukhinova (Ксения Сухинова) was crowned Miss World 2008, beating 108 other gorgeous women during the 58th Miss World Finals held Saturday night, December 13, 2008 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Ksenia becomes the 2nd Russian to win the Miss World title after Julia Alexandrovna Kourotchkina in 1992.
Miss Russia's victory is very historical as the original venue of Miss World 2008 was in Ukraine last September, but due to Russia's invasion of Georgia, the pageant was postponed and moved to South Africa.
But still, Russia managed to beat all odds and won the much coveted title.
In fact, she was actually the top favorite for the crown ever since the pageant started in November.

Biggest miss this year is Miss Philippines Danielle Kirsten Castano while generally, there are no surprises in the Top 15 as all of them were in Mykiru's Top 30 Favorites.
It's the 5th consecutive placement of Mexico in the semifinals, while a 4th for Puerto Rico and a 3rd straight year for Angola and Venezuela.

The Miss People's Choice Fast Track has been cancelled by the MWO due to some technical errors on its official voting site. The winner of the said People`s Choice Award was supposed to be Miss Vietnam Ly Truong Thien Duong.
