Armando Goyena, a matinee idol in the 50's, dies

Armando Goyena, a popular leading man in Philippine movies during the 50's, died of pulmonary embolism on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, according to a report from Philippine Daily Inquirer.

He was 88.(December 7, 1922 - March 9, 2011).

Born Jose Goyena Revilla Jr., Armando Goyena was married to Francisca "Paquita" Roses, the first ever Camay soap model. (Paquita, who was considered by many as among the most beautiful women ever in Philippine showbiz, died reportedly of Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis also in the month of March, exactly 10 years ago.)

He fathered seven daughters (two of them entered showbiz: Maritess and Tina Revilla) and one son, Johnny Revilla (he currently stars in ABS-CBN's "Imortal" as Simon Teodoro, Mateo's adoptive father).

Armando Goyena was also the grandfather of actors Bernard and Mico Palanca as well as of models Bianca and Paolo Araneta (ex-bf of Anne Curtis).

His most recent films were "Annie B" in 2004, the 2003 Metro Manila Filmfest entry "Captain Barbell" and another MMFF entry "Yamashita: The Tiger's Treasure" in 2001 where he won as Best Actor during the 50th FAMAS Awards.

Pictured here with Armando Goyena (left) were Jiro Manio (middle) who won that time as Best Child Actor for "Bagong Buwan" and Ms. Lorna Tolentino (left) who was awarded Best Actress for "Abakada...Ina".

'Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin' full trailer is out!

The excitement is so high for 'Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin', an upcoming teleserye on ABS-CBN.

Initially planned to premiere last February 14, 'Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin' is finally airing this March 7 on the network's Primetime Bida block.

The full official trailer of the new soap has been revealed earlier and it looks so exciting.

I was so surprised to see Kapamilya leading ladies Kim Chiu and Erich Gonzales having special roles in 'Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin'.

Kim plays for the first time a contravida role, as young Lorna Tolentino, while Erich is the young Amy Austria.

Aside from Kim and Erich, also doing a special participation are Albert Martinez, Agot Isidro and Xian Lim (as young John Estrada).

The trailer has also revealed that Coco Martin is portraying dual roles or should I say, award-winning roles, as Alexander and Javier.

Having two "Coco Martin" in 'Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin' is just one of the many things for the Kapamilya viewers to get excited with.

Playing leading ladies to Coco are Maja Salvador and Andi Eigenmann.

"Sa 'Yo Lamang" movie poster released | Bea Alonzo leads star-studded cast

From the same producer and director of the 2000 hit family drama
"Tanging Yaman", here comes another interesting family movie that will
surely touch our hearts.

Pero, interesting nga ba?

Sa 'Yo Lamang movie

"Sa 'Yo Lamang" official movie poster has been released and a first look at it, the poster doesn't generate to me the desire to watch it.

It looks so plain and simple. There's nothing extra special about it. So maybe, it's just a light drama and not as heavy as "Tanging Yaman".

"Tanging Yaman" poster was better as it gave a hint that Gloria
Romerio, as the matriarch, plays the central character of the story based on how she appears on the poster.

It's not the case though for "Sa 'Yo Lamang" because there's no emphasis on anyone, except that Bea Alonzo's name is emphasized and slightly bigger than Lorna Tolentino and Christopher De Leon's.

Good thing though that they've included Coco Martin and Enchong Dee in
the cast. Both are crowd-drawers and "Sa 'Yo Lamang" marks Coco's first ever appearance in a mainstream movie.

Joining them are Zanjoe Marudo, Shaina Magdayao, Empress, Miles Ocampo and Diether Ocampo, with the special participation of Igi Boy Flores and Dominic Ochoa.

Interestingly, Shaina as a child star and Dominic in his early 20's were also part of "Tanging Yaman".

Produced by Star Cinema and directed by Laurice Guillen, "Sa 'Yo
Lamang" opens this September 1, 2010.
