American Idol Season 10 Finale Performances (videos)

American Idol Season 10 is now on its 2nd to the last episode, with tonight's epi featuring the finale performances of the Final 2: Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina.

The face-off of Scotty, 17, and Lauren, 16, are considered the youngest face-off ever on American Idol, but definitely they're not the least when it comes to vocal prowess.

For their finale performances, Scotty and Lauren had to sing 3 songs each: one is their favorite song, another is a song picked by their musical idol (George Strait for Scotty, Carrie Underwood for Lauren) and lastly, an original composition by Jimmy Iovine which will be their first single.

Sotty McCreery first sang his favorite song "Gone" by Montgomery Gentry, then "Check Yes or No" chosen for him by George Strait and finally "Love You This Big", while Lauren performed Katrina Elam's "Flat On The Floor", then the song "Maybe It Was Memphis" by Pam Tillis picked by Carrie Underwood and "Like My Mother Does" for her 3rd song.

Watch a video of their performances:

Who do you think will be the American Idol Season 10 winner?

The finalist with the highest number of votes from the viewers will be revealed on American Idol Season 10 finale episode Wednesday, May 25. (May 26 AM Manila time)

American Idol Results: Haley Reinhart eliminated; Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina face off in the finals

American Idol Season 10 Final 2 contenders revealed!

American Idol's last elimination this 10th Season has just happened with Haley Reinhart, the Survivor, being voted off the competition.

I call Reinhart as the Survivor because she managed to reach the American Idol Season 10 Top 3, after being part of the Bottom for at least 4 times, and she was the least favorite finalist during the first eliminations.

While the most shocking eleminations were during the times Pia Toscano and James Durbin were voted off, Haley Reinhart's elimination is the least schocking.

But I really admire Haley's competitive spirit and how she was able to prove her worth in the competition.

That puts Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina in the Final 2 and will face off in the American Idol Season 10 2-part finale happening this Tuesday and Wednesday.

Who's your bet to win this Season? My vote still goes for Scotty McCreery, my 2nd best next to James Durbin, who unfortunately got eliminated last week.

Last night's episode of American Idol Season 10 also featured Nicole Scherzinger (feat. 50-Cent) in one hot performance of "Right There".

American Idol eliminates remaining 'black' finalist Jacob Lusk

American Idol Season 10 eliminated once more another finalist last night and it's Jacob Lusk, the only remaining Black finalist in the Top 5.

And now he's gone, leaving 4 finalists who are all White and that just means American Idol will have its 7th white winner this season. That's kinda sad.

Jacob Lusk is actually a great performer, but not the best this season.

The competition in the American Idol Season 10 now becomes tougher as it comes closer to the finals happening on May 25 and 26.

And it becomes very clear who's most likely to be in the Final 2. For me, it's James Durbin and Scotty McCreey.

American Idol Season 10: Ranking the Top 5 finalists

American Idol Season 10 is now down to its Top 5 finalists after judges' favorite Casey Abrams was eliminated last Thursday.

With Abrams elimination, judges' decision to use their one-time "save" vote for Abrams during the Top 11 eliminations has been put to waste.

But at least, he was able to reach this far.

Casey Abrams was among those finalists this season who gave consistently good performances.

On Mykiru's weekly ranking, he was ranked #1 twice, but that was during the first weeks.

Recently he has been losing momentum and his elimination was actually not as surprising as Pia Toscano's elimination, but he was still among the best and 1 or 2 of the Top 5 remaining finalists should have been eliminated ahead of him.

Here's Mykiru's updated ranking for the remaining Top 5 finalists of American Idol Season 10 (James Durbin still the top choice, Haley Reinhart goin' up!)

1. James Durbin (Previous ranks: #7, #5, #2, #1)

2. Scotty McCreery (Previous ranks: #4, #3, #7, #4)

3. Haley Reinhart (Previous ranks: #11, #8, #11, #6)

4. Lauren Alaina (Previous ranks: #3, #2, #8, #3)

5. Jacob Lusk (Previous ranks: #6, #7, #6, #7)

American Idol Results: Paul McDonald got voted off

American Idol Season 10
Top 8 Results Night
April 14, 2011 (Apr 15 MLA Time)

Paul McDonald is the latest eliminated finalist on American Idol Season 10.

From Top 8, they're now down to just 7 (5 males, 2 females).

After 5 consecutive female finalits, Paul McDonald is the first male finalist to be eliminated since the Final Top 13 eliminations.

This week's theme was "Songs from the Movies" and McDonald performed "Old Time Rock and Roll", a song from the movie Risky Business, but America's voters didn't like it as he got the lowest number of votes.

Here's the list of their song choices this week:

1. Paul McDonald "Old Time Rock and Roll" from the movie Risky Business
2. Lauren Alaina "The Climb" - Hannah Montana: The Movie
3. Stefano Langone "End of the Road" - Boomerang
4. Scotty McCreery "I Cross My Heart" - Pure Country
5. Casey Abrams "Nature Boy" - The Boy with Green Hair
6. Haley Reinhart "Call Me" - American Gigolo
7. Jacob Lusk "Bridge over Troubled Water" - The Pursuit of Happyness
8. James Durbin "Heavy Metal" - Heavy Metal

Also called in the Bottom 3 along with Paul were Hailey Reinhart and Stefano Langone, who were on their 3rd time already to be part of the Bottom 3.

It's amazing how Hailey managed to reach this far. She almost went home during the first 2 eliminations, but here she is now surviving 'til the end.

The other remaining 'Idol' finalists are Casey Abrams, Jacob Lusk, James Durbin, Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery.

So far, only James, Lauren and Scotty are the ones who haven't been called as one of the Bottom 3 finalists.

Next week, the remaining Top 7 finalists will sing song from the 21st Century.

By the way, Paul McDonald may have been eliminated from American Idol, but he has won the heart of 'Twilight' actress Nikki Reed, as the two are confirmed dating, according to People.com.

Here's Mykiru's new ranking for the remaining Top 7 finalists:

1. James Durbin (Previous ranks: #7, #5, #2)

2. Casey Abrams (Previous ranks: #1, #1, #3)

3. Lauren Alaina (Previous ranks: #3, #2, #8)

4. Scotty McCreery (Previous ranks: #4, #3, #7)

5. Stefano Langone (Previous ranks: #5, #6, #5)

6. Haley Reinhart (Previous ranks: #11, #8, #11)

7. Jacob Lusk (Previous ranks: #6, #7, #6)

Thia Megia is 5th least popular on Twitter among the 11 remaining 'Idol' finalists

Thia Megia is only ranked 7th among the Top 11 finalists on American Idol Season 10 if based on the number of Twitter followers.

As of 8:30 am today, the Filipina contestant has 30,299 followers, just 88 short from James Durbin who ranks 6th and has 30,387 followers.

1. Scotty McCreery 45,624
2. Casey Abrams 44,126
3. Paul McDonald 37,253
4. Lauren Alaina 32,183
5. Pia Toscano 31,795
6. James Durbin 30,387
7. Thia Megia 30,299
8. Stefano Langone 27,902
9. Jacob Lusk 18,450
10. Hailey Reinhart 17,289
11. Naima Adedapo 14,203

[Follow Thia Megia on Twitter]

Is the number of Twitter followers a measure of how popular an American Idol finalist is?

In a way, yes, because Hailey and Naima have the least followers, and during the previous 2 weeks, they were in the Bottom 3 of the competition.

However, it's not always the case as Casey Abrams, who has the 2nd highest number of followers, had the lowest number of votes from the viewers for this week and both Hailey and Naima were not part of the Bottom 3.

Anyone of them still has equal chances of winning American Idol.

And for Thia, the youngest finalist, I hope she survives 'til the end of the competition.
