Earthquake of 6.6 magnitude rocks Japan twice today, March 22

Japan was hit by two earthquakes today, March 22, 2011, with above 6 magnitude.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), an earthquake of 6.6 magnitude has occurred twice off the east coast of Honshu, Japan.

One happened at 05:18 PM then another one has hit after two hours.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has issued statement in connection to that. According to the statement, a destructive pacific-wide tsunami is not expected.

It's already the strongest earthquake in Japan since the devastating 9.0 magnitude earthquake last March 11 which triggered a tsunami and killed 9,080 people (figure from CNN, as of 6:52 AM today).

Two Filipinos were killed in Japan earthquake. They were identified as Grace Agnes Oprecio-Hiruta, 45, and her 12-year-old daughter Maria, according to ABS-CBN News.
