MEG's Cute Guy feature this May 2009 is commercial model and GMA Artist Center talent Gino dela Peña.
Why Mr. Nice Guy? It's because, according to MEG, Gino dreams of becoming a pastor someday and is currently active helping out the missionaries at his church.
Gino might look so familiar to you as he is the guy in the McDonald's "First Love" TV commercial with Ang Huling El Bimbo as its theme song. (He's wearing eyeglasses there!)
Here's MEG's feature story about Gino dela Peña:
Where you’ve seen him: Gino is that guy in the moving McDo commercial, who, although he didn’t end up with his childhood crush, sure charmed his way into our hearts. He says, “I gained 15 pounds in that commercial, so I don’t really look like him. But the [staff of] McDonalds near where I live, recognize me so they always give me free sundae and fries.” Apart from those perks, Gino says since his breakout role, he’s been getting a lot of offers and will appear in TV soap soon.
Gino for change: It’s not just his charming smile and soulful eyes that make Gino a true good guy, the 21-year-old actor plans to be a pastor someday. Aware that the industry he entered is far from sainthood however, Gino says, “That’s one of the reasons why I chose to enter the industry, to change—or at least try to change—in what little way that I can, the stereotypes of show business. I don’t think it should be all about fame and gossip.”
Commitment is the word: When it comes to finding “the one,” Gino is all about being serious, “I know this sounds cliché, but I really look at a girl’s inner beauty.” With three ex-girlfriends, Gino says the reason girls breakup with him is because he’s too serious, “Siyempre you don’t get into a relationship just for the heck of it, you get into a relationship with marriage in mind. Apparently the girls I dated didn’t share my point of view.”
Man on a mission: When he’s not busy with his work, catching up on his studies or playing his favorite video game, Gino works with missionaries at his church, “I’ve already worked with four missionaries. It’s really fulfilling when you get to help someone.”
