Liam Neeson's wife Natasha Richardson dies in a ski accident

Tony-winning stage actress Natasha Richardson, wife of actor Liam Neeson, died from a head injury on Wednesday, March 18, 2009.

The head injury was sustained after Richardson fell on a ski slope while having a skiing lessons in Quebec, Canada last Tuesday.

Richardson was first rushed to a hospital in Montreal, Canada, then transferred to New York hospital but she later died and was not revived.

The confirmation of her death was made by Neeson's publicist and here's what the statement goes:

"Liam Neeson, his sons (Micheal, 13, and 12-year-old Daniel), and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha. They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time."

Richardson was 45.
